Furniture Elevator Rental in Tenerife
Furniture installation service with operator to move furniture up and down via the building facade, with public street permit arranged.
When furniture doesn't fit through the staircase or elevator, the solution is not to force it: it's a furniture lift. At Horizont Atlantic we provide the machine and the team to operate it across the entire island of Tenerife, whether for your complete move or if you just need to raise or lower specific pieces. With over 15 years working in historic centers, buildings without elevators and southern residential areas, we know when it's needed, what permits to request and how to set it up without blocking half the street.

What is a furniture lift
A furniture lift —also called furniture hoist or lifting staircase— is a motorized platform mounted on a rail that moves up and down on the outside of the building, supported by a vehicle or trailer. Instead of carrying a wardrobe down six flights of stairs, the load exits through the balcony or window and comes down to the street in seconds.
It's not a whim or a luxury extra: in many buildings it's the only safe way to move large pieces. It saves hours of manual carrying, greatly reduces the risk of hitting walls, railings and the furniture itself, and prevents injuries to the team. In a move with several bulky pieces of furniture, the lift usually reduces the overall cost, because it cuts down the total work time.
Signs that your move needs a lift
- The building has no elevator and you live above a second or third floor.
- There is an elevator, but it's small: the sofa, large mattress or three-piece wardrobe don't fit.
- The staircase is narrow or spiral, or has landings that don't allow turning a long piece.
- You have furniture that doesn't disassemble: one-piece sofas, marble slabs, safes, pianos, large-format appliances.
- You want to protect the property: in newly painted communities or those with valuable staircases, taking everything out the outside avoids disputes and damage.
- The move is large and urgent: the lift converts a long day of manual carrying into just a few hours.
Height and weight capacity
The lifts we use easily cover the usual heights of buildings in Tenerife: depending on the model required for the job, we easily reach upper floors of residential buildings, around eight or ten stories. The load capacity of the platform also depends on the model and the working height: the higher and more inclined the rail, the less weight it can handle per trip.
That's why, before booking, we always do a pre-check: actual height of the window or balcony, width of the opening through which the furniture will exit, presence of overhangs, awnings, cables or street lamps in the path, and space on the street to support the equipment. With a photo of the facade and one of the opening we usually have enough to confirm it.
Public right-of-way permit
The lift is supported on the street, so in most municipalities you need to reserve the space and request a public right-of-way permit from the town hall, in addition to signposting the area. In places like the historic center of La Laguna, downtown Santa Cruz or the southern tourist areas, with narrow streets, regulated loading and unloading or pedestrian zones, this procedure is critical: without a reserved space, on moving day there's nowhere to set up the machine.
We take care of handling it and will advise you how far in advance you need to request it in your municipality, since timelines vary. Take this into account when setting the date: it's the most common reason for having to reschedule a move.
How the service works, step by step
- 1
Pre-check
You tell us the address, the floor and what needs to be raised or lowered. With photos of the facade and the opening we confirm that the lift is viable and what model is needed.
- 2
Permit and space reservation
We handle the public right-of-way permit if the municipality requires it and reserve the parking space for the scheduled day.
- 3
Setup and protection
We stabilize the equipment, mark off the area and protect the exit opening, woodwork and the furniture itself before moving it.
- 4
Raising or lowering the load
The operator manages the platform and the team secures each piece. When finished, everything is dismantled and the right-of-way is released.
Where we serve in Tenerife
We work across the entire island. Most frequently in the metropolitan area —Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna—, in the north —Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and Los Realejos— and in the south —Arona, Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje and Granadilla de Abona—. Each area has its own characteristics: narrow streets with slopes in the old town centers, and residential areas with restricted access or tight parking in the southern tourist zones.
Furniture lift pricing
The price depends on three things: usage time (half day or full day), the height and difficulty of the location, and whether a municipal permit is needed. As a rough reference, a half-day service in the metropolitan area usually runs around 200 € to 400 €, and goes up for full days, greater heights or difficult-access areas.
If the lift is part of a complete move, it's not contracted separately: it's included as another line item in the fixed quote, and often the savings in manual carrying hours offset much of its cost. Tell us the address, floor and what furniture needs to be moved and we'll give you the exact price.
Combine it with your move
The lift rarely goes alone: normally it's part of a move in Tenerife, along with furniture disassembly and assembly and packing. If you also need to store things while you move into your new home, we have storage in Tenerife. And if the move crosses the sea, check out inter-island moves or moves to the mainland.
