Removals to Lanzarote from mainland Spain
Sea freight to the Port of Los Marmoles in Arrecife, with door-to-door delivery across the island. Customs declaration and tax relief handled.
REQUEST A QUOTEOrganising a removal to Lanzarote from mainland Spain is straightforward once it is planned around the right sailing. The island receives freight through the Port of Los Marmoles, in Arrecife, which runs a regular service with the major mainland ports and, for some sailings, a feeder connection via Las Palmas. At Horizont Atlantic we have spent more than 15 years moving households between the mainland and the Canaries, with our own base in the archipelago, a fixed price and all the customs work handled by us.
How your removal reaches Lanzarote
We collect and pack at your mainland address, take the load to the port of departure and ship it to Arrecife. The usual transits are around 5 days from Cadiz, 6 from Valencia and 7 from Barcelona; from inland origins such as Madrid or Zaragoza the whole journey comes to around 9 days because the load passes through a cross-dock first. When the direct sailing does not fit your dates, we ship via Las Palmas and handle the inter-island leg to Lanzarote as part of the same fixed quote: you do not have to book or coordinate that second hop.
Which cities we depart from for Lanzarote
We collect door to door throughout mainland Spain. The most frequent routes have their own page: Madrid to Lanzarote, Barcelona to Lanzarote, Valencia to Lanzarote, Seville to Lanzarote and Zaragoza to Lanzarote. From any other city the circuit is identical: only the overland leg to the port of departure changes.
Groupage or full container
Being a non-capital island, the choice has a practical nuance in Lanzarote. Groupage is still the cheapest option — you pay only for the volume you occupy — and it is what we recommend for studios, apartments and partial shipments, which are very common here because many people arrive at an already furnished home. The exclusive container gains ground when you are moving a whole house or when the date is non-negotiable, since it avoids waiting for consolidation to complete. We tell you which one is worth it once the volume has been measured.
Where we deliver in Lanzarote
We deliver across the whole island: Arrecife and its surroundings, Puerto del Carmen and Tias, Playa Blanca and Yaiza in the south, Costa Teguise and Teguise in the east, and northern villages such as Haria and San Bartolome. Two things are worth anticipating: much of the housing stock follows the protected traditional architecture championed by Cesar Manrique, with low houses, inner courtyards, narrow openings and access along alleys where a large lorry simply does not fit; and the tourist developments in the south impose time restrictions on loading and unloading. We solve this with a small delivery vehicle for the final mile and, where needed, lifting through the facade. It is priced into the quote, not sprung on you on delivery day.
Customs declaration and change-of-residence relief
As everywhere in the archipelago, the DUA is compulsory to clear your removal in Lanzarote and we handle it. If you are moving because of a change of residence, used household effects can claim the relief exempting them from IGIC and AIEM: you must evidence your previous registered address outside the Canaries, register on the island and provide a valued inventory. It is a very common procedure in Lanzarote, where a significant share of removals involve residents arriving from the mainland or from other European countries, and we have it ready before the ship sails.
What the service includes
We include reinforced sea-freight packing, dismantling and reassembly of furniture, bridging storage on either side if the dates do not match, insurance on the declared value and the option of bringing your car in the same container. On an island with the distances of Lanzarote — it is about 35 km from Arrecife to Playa Blanca — having a car from day one saves a lot of hassle, and using the spare space in the container is cheaper than a standalone vehicle transport.
How much a removal to Lanzarote costs
You pay by actual volume. An average flat of around 25 m³ in groupage from the mainland falls into an indicative range of €2,000 to €2,900, slightly above Tenerife or Gran Canaria because many sailings require the inter-island leg. The drivers are volume, the port of departure associated with your city, the option chosen and extras: storage, full packing, delivery with a small vehicle in narrow old-town streets or car transport. You receive the fixed, itemised quote within 24-48 hours.
If you already live in the Canaries
This page covers moves from mainland Spain to Lanzarote. If you are moving from another island in the archipelago, the right service is inter-island removals, with the same sea logistics and the same local team. To see every island destination from the mainland, go back to the removals to the Canary Islands hub.
Removals to the rest of the archipelago
If your destination is not Lanzarote, we have a dedicated page for every island with its ports, transit times and delivery areas: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.

The sea crossing takes around 5 days from Cadiz, 6 from Valencia and 7 from Barcelona, and around 9 days in total from inland origins such as Madrid or Zaragoza. If the direct sailing does not fit your dates, we ship via Las Palmas and add the inter-island leg, which normally means 2 or 3 extra days. It is all within the same quote.
An average flat of 25 m³ in groupage from the mainland falls into an indicative range of €2,000 to €2,900. It sits slightly above Tenerife or Gran Canaria because a fair number of sailings require the inter-island leg from Las Palmas. The final price depends on actual volume, the port of departure, the option chosen and any extras. We confirm it in writing within 24-48 hours.
Yes, and it is a situation we see often. Lanzarote's traditional architecture — low houses, courtyards, narrow openings and streets a large lorry cannot enter — is handled with a small vehicle for the final mile and, if the furniture will not go up the stairs, with lifting through the facade. We assess it when quoting, so it is included in the fixed price and does not turn up as an extra on delivery day.
Not if the move is due to a change of residence: the relief exempts used household effects from IGIC and AIEM. You need to evidence your previous registered address outside the Canaries, register in Lanzarote and submit a valued inventory. The DUA is compulsory in every case and we handle it within the fixed price.
Yes, we cover the whole island: Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen and Tias, Playa Blanca and Yaiza, Costa Teguise and Teguise, Haria and San Bartolome. The tourist developments in the south have time restrictions on loading and unloading, so we schedule delivery within the window allowed by the residents' association or the town hall. We check that in advance ourselves.
Yes, in a closed container and within the same customs declaration and the same quote as the removal. On an island where it is roughly 35 km from Arrecife to Playa Blanca, arriving with your own car pays off. If your removal is travelling in an exclusive container and there is space left, using that gap is appreciably cheaper than booking a separate vehicle transport.
